Join us to learn about postdoctoral training opportunities in Philadelphia!
The Philadelphia Postdoc Preview event is a collaborative effort to raise awareness about the numerous postdoctoral training opportunities at 8 research institutions across Philadelphia including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The Drexel University College of Medicine, Fox Chase Cancer Center – Temple Health, Lewis Katz School of Medicine – Temple Health, Monell Chemical Senses Center, Thomas Jefferson University, University of Pennsylvania Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs, and The Wistar Institute.

The next Philadelphia Postdoc Preview will be held on Tuesday February 11, 2025. During the Preview, participants will learn about:
-The various Postdoctoral training programs at participating research institutions
-What to consider when choosing where to train
-How to apply to a postdoc
-What it is like to live and work in Philadelphia?

The goal of the Preview event is to raise awareness of the robust training opportunities in the Philadelphia area. Whether you are interested in studying basic, translational, or clinical research in human or model systems, Philadelphia has lots of options for those interested in expanding their research expertise, developing professional skills needed in today’s job market, and growing a network of engaged and successful colleagues.

The target audience for the Preview event includes senior Ph.D. students (who have passed their qualifying exam or are post-candidacy by the time of the event), recent Ph.D. graduates, or early-career postdoc scholars in science, technology, engineering, math, and medical fields. Postdoctoral opportunities at the participating institutions include basic, translational, and clinical research. Information on clinical residencies and fellowships will NOT be presented.

There is no citizenship requirement to register. We are seeking domestic and international candidates alike!

OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center: Post-Baccalaureate Program

Scientific Training in Oncology (STRONG) Post-Baccalaureate Program
The American Cancer Society (ACS) has awarded the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center the Diversity in Cancer Research (DICR) Post-Baccalaureate Fellows Program grant to fund the Scientific Training in Oncology (STRONG) Program . STRONG aims to increase diversity in the cancer research workforce by increasing the number of under-represented groups in the biomedical field. The goal of this program is to expose fellows to cancer research and provide career development activities that will help them prepare for a career in cancer research. The STRONG program is designed as a two-year cancer research experience for individuals with a bachelor’s degree who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in biomedical science, data science, population health, public health, or a health profession. The program will pay a stipend of $35,000 per year to each fellow.

High priority will be given to individuals from underrepresented minority (URM) groups. Specific populations that are underrepresented in science, including grant funding, such as certain racial and ethnic groups, first generation college graduates, or those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. These groups are collectively called populations underrepresented in science.
